Description
Rich, tart-sweet, and packed with berry flavor, this boysenberry jam is a simple yet standout recipe perfect for toast, desserts, or gifting.
Ingredients
4 cups boysenberries (fresh or frozen)
2 cups cane sugar
2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
1 packet fruit pectin (optional)
Instructions
1. Wash and destem boysenberries, removing any underripe fruit.
2. Combine berries and lemon juice in a large saucepan. Lightly mash.
3. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally.
4. Add sugar and stir until fully dissolved. Return to a rolling boil.
5. If using, stir in fruit pectin. Boil hard for 1 minute.
6. Perform a gel test with a frozen plate. If jam wrinkles, it’s done.
7. Ladle hot jam into sterilized jars, leaving ¼ inch headspace.
8. Seal jars. Refrigerate or process for long-term storage.
Notes
Fresh or thawed frozen boysenberries both work.
Can reduce sugar to 1.5 cups for a tangier result.
Store sealed jars up to 1 year in a cool, dark place. Refrigerate after opening.
Try it in vegan cheesecake, over pancakes, or stirred into oatmeal.
